Tadoba National Park is one of the oldest and largest national park located in Chandrapur distric, Maharasahtra state. It is also know as " Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve". The word Tadoba is drived from the name of God Taru and Andhari is derived from the river that flows through Jungle area.
The total area of the tiger reserve is about 1,727 Sq.km, which was created in the year 1955.
Tadoba national park has around 63 tigers in the reserve, which is one of the highest in India. This count may change/vary according to yearly tiger counting.
Animals:
Tigers, leopards, gaurs, nilgais, sambars and chitals are the common species in this park. Besides, leopard cat, Indian wild dog, sloth bear, hyena, wild boar, spotted deer, barking deer, blue bull,
four-horned antelope, Indian pangolin and porcupine are the wild animals of this park.
Tadoba National Park is a large park covered with lush, beautiful green forestland at a distance of 45 km from Chandrapur at Chimur Hills and the Andhari sanctuary covers Moharli and Kolsa ranges. Thick forests are relieved by smooth meadows and deep valleys as the terrain slopes from north to south. Cliffs, talus and caves provide salubrious shelter for several animals. The two forested rectangles are formed of Tadoba and Andhari range. The presence of Tadoba Lake at the park brings perfect biological diversity with great foliage’s.

Being on the safari is a thrilling experience altogether. If you’re lucky enough which people generally are, you get to see Tiger, sloth bears, leopard etc.
The safari has two slots, one happens in the morning between 6 am and 11 am, and then in the afternoon, from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. All safaris are organised by the Forest Department of Maharasthra along with their trained guides, so make sure to carry your identity proof on you.

Park is open for visitors from 15th October to 30th June every season.
